About Screenshot Annotator
The Screenshot Annotator turns a raw screenshot into a clear bug report attachment: paste or upload an image, then add arrows, boxes, highlights, text labels, numbered steps — and blur out anything sensitive before it leaves your machine. A well-annotated screenshot routinely saves an entire round of "which button do you mean?" back-and-forth.
Everything is drawn on a canvas in your browser; the image is never uploaded. When you are done, copy the result straight to the clipboard for Slack or Jira, or download it as a PNG. Undo/redo means you can experiment freely.
How to use
- Paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V (or click "Upload image").
- Pick a tool — arrow, box, text, blur, numbered steps — and draw directly on the image.
- Blur any sensitive data (emails, tokens, customer names) before sharing; use Undo/Redo to refine.
- Click "Copy PNG" to put the annotated image on your clipboard, or "Download PNG" to save it.
Frequently asked questions
Is my screenshot uploaded anywhere?
No — the image stays in your browser's memory the whole time. Annotation, blurring and export all happen locally, which is exactly why it is safe for screenshots containing internal data.
What makes a good bug-report screenshot?
One arrow or box pointing at the defect, a short text label saying what is wrong, and numbered steps if order matters. Blur anything private. The goal is that a developer understands the problem before reading the ticket.
Is the blur reversible by the recipient?
The exported PNG contains only the blurred pixels — the original data is not embedded. Use a blur region large and strong enough that text is genuinely unreadable.
